Tue, March 21, 2017, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary offers a Complimentary Boardwalk Tour beginning at 10:30 a.m. on most days from November 1, 2016 through the March 31, 2017.
The Corkscrew Boardwalk Tour is one and-a-half hours long and is on the one-mile short loop of the Boardwalk.
There is no additional charge beyond the regular admission of $14 per adult; National Audubon Members with ID receive $4 off per party of 2; $6 for college students; $4 for children 6 to 18 years old, and Free for children under 6 and Friends of Corkscrew Members.
We are planning on two guided tours daily and space is limited to 24 partipants (12 per tour). Visitors should check in the day of the tour at our admissions desk, and then meet your guides at the entrance to the boardwalk.
A Corkscrew environmental educator will conduct the guided walks, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the awakening swamp, from its cypress forest and lettuce lakes to its pine forest and open prairies.
This gentle, pristine wilderness dates back 5,000 years and offers visitors a glimpse of long-ago Florida and a premier environmental learning experience. More than 200 bird species are permanent residents of the Sanctuary, including egrets, ibis, heron, limpkin and anhinga. Barred owls nest near the boardwalk and add their distinctive hoot to the aviary symphony. Winter visitors include yellow-bellied sapsuckers and painted buntings.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
We recommend that you bring water, sun protection, bug spray, binoculars, and a camera when you explore the Boardwalk.
Water bottles, bug spray, and binocular rentals are available in the Blair Audubon Visitor Center.
Food is not permitted on the Boardwalk.
