Just Go Outside with APP: Cattus Island County Park in Toms River

What's the best size lens for the subject you're shooting? What's the optimal time of day to shoot? How do you compose your subject creatively?

Join Asbury Park Press visual journalist Tom Spader and visual coach Jim Connolly at Cattus Island Park for APP's "Just Go Outside NJ" outdoor photo shoot and meet-up 8 a.m. Saturday, June 20, to get these answers and more.

As an APP subscriber you’ll get first access to participate in this morning of photography with seasoned professionals. Registration is open to subscribers only through June 11. Participants must pre-register for limited admission to this small-group session.

Spader, creator of the popular new APP Facebook page “Just Go Outside NJ" and a veteran photographer, will start off at 8 a.m. that Saturday.

The session will include tips and suggestions on outdoor photography, composition, light and more.

Spader will show a few examples of his work followed by a 45-minute photo shoot, during which you’ll trek out into the park to capture nature scenes..

The group will select our favorite images and Tom will post a gallery on the Facebook page and on APP.com for followers to enjoy and encourage feedback and discussion on your work.

This gathering is strictly for people who have a digital camera and basic working knowledge of their equipment. Future classes will include iPhone photography, so stay tuned for those!
