The Sudbury Historical Society presents the Berwick Fiddle Consort live in concert at the historic Loring Parsonage

About this event

Comprised of musicians with deep roots in historical performance practice, the Berwick Fiddle Consort (BFC), founded by violinists Lydia Becker, Julia Connor, Sarah Douglass and Anna Maberry, brings an historically informed lens to bear on traditional fiddle music. Their concerts encourage active audience participation such as clapping along with the music, which fosters a relaxed performance atmosphere allowing the public to personally connect with the music and band members. The Berwick Fiddle Consort is planning concerts in 2021 in collaboration with Pegasus Rising Young Artists, New York State Baroque and the Boston Society for Historically Informed Performance (SoHIP). The ensemble presented their debut concert at the 2019 Boston Early Music Festival Fringe, having been formed the previous year, and in summer 2020 they produced a concert video for the Boston SoHIP’s virtual summer series. Through their original arrangements of traditional folk music and unique concert ambience, Lydia, Julia, Sarah and Anna strive to offer their audiences an exciting counterpoint to the traditional canon of historical repertoire.
