The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Committee on International Security and Arms Control (CISAC) is convening a symposium on September 18-19, 2017 at the NAS Keck Center in Washington, D.C., to consider new approaches for and update thinking on U.S. Government Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) programs and related efforts to address their potential relevance and scope during the next ten years and beyond. The symposium is sponsored by the Project on Advanced Systems and Concepts for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (PASCC) in the Naval Postgraduate School. Speakers will include key thinkers and practitioners from CTR programs as well as experts from outside of CTR implementing agencies who have experience addressing complex international problems. The co-chairs of the symposium organizing committee are David R. Franz, Former Commander, USAMRIID and Elizabeth “Libby” Turpen, President, Octant Associates.
