Event description
Learn how to prepare, cook and preserve wild mushrooms to extract their unique wild flavors with forager, chef and author Jess Starwood.

About this Event

Mushrooms are on the menu! Learn how to properly prepare wild mushrooms safely but also how to best extract their unique flavors in this workshop.

We will be discussing best practices in storing, preserving and common, but also not-so-uncommon preparations and recipe ideas. Other topics will include nutritional properties of mushrooms and why we need them.

Participants will have the opportunity to taste a variety of wild mushrooms in this multi-sensory event, plus will also receive all the recipes and a mushroom cooking guide.

Our focus will be on edible mushrooms that can be found in California, but other highly sought after fungi will also be discussed and tasted.

COVID precautions: Event takes place outdoors. Masks and social distancing are required and class size is strictly limited, no exceptions.

Thousand Oaks, CA (Exact address will be provided one week before event). Spaces are very limited and will sell out quickly.

Jess Starwood is an author, herbalist, chef and mushroom hunter. She has a Master's degree in Herbal Medicine and author of Mushroom Wanderland: A Forager’s Guide to Finding, Identifying, and Using 25 Wild Fungi, available in 2021.
