Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals teaches both family home and center-based child care professionals about healthy meal preparation and creating a positive food environment for the kids in their care. This hands-on, discussion-based training covers topics such as choosing healthy foods that appeal to kids, encouraging positive mealtime attitudes, safe cooking with confidence, and menu management on a budget. You will engage in cooking and preparing nutritious meals that meet the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
The training is free of cost to you. You will receive a manual highlighting the information covered in the course and a variety of recipes, essential kitchen equipment, and 8 hours of continuing education (2 hours social emotional development, 3 hours healthy and safe environment, 1.5 hours professionalism, 1 hour developmentally appropriate practices, 0.5 hour family relationships).
Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals is a Qualistar approved training.
This training location is at Mountain Resource Center in Conifer and is appropriate for in-home child care providers and center-based ECE staff, including classroom, food-service, and administrative staff. For safety reasons, there are no children permitted at the training. We will be engaging in lunch and snack preparation that will be enjoyed family style. Class size is limited to 25 participants who have not taken the course previously.
