Event Details

Our Second Annual Cooking for a Classic will feature great chefs of the Triangle in an epic battle to win a classic go-to-market truck! 

This year’s event begins with the First Round (Monday-Thursday, Jan. 22-25) in which chefs meet head to head in competition. The Second Round will be Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 29 and 30. The Finale on Wednesday, Feb. 7 will see the final two chefs bring their “A” game to the table to win a classic car!

Each night, each chef prepares an appetizer, entrée and dessert for an amazing six courses. Special ingredients will make for especially stiff competition. 

There will be both a popular vote and expert judges to determine who moves on to the next round, plus special features like a silent auction of chef-provided gourmet meals that you won't get anywhere else.  

All Cooking For A Classic dinners will be held at 1705 East, 1705 E. Millbrook. Cocktails begin at 5:30p.m., followed by dinner promptly at 6:30 p.m. Dress is business casual. There will be a cash bar for the event with all proceeds also going to the Lucy Daniels Center. 

Thanks to our in-kind sponsors, last year’s Cooking for a Classic raised a net of $85,000 for the Lucy Daniels Center’s programs for children’s mental health. Our goal is to beat that total for this year’s event!

    Cooking For A Classic/Lucy Daniels Center

    The Second Annual Cooking for a Classic features 8 top Triangle chefs as they compete in a Sweet 16 format while raising funds for the Lucy Daniels Center!  Your evening includes six plated courses by two chefs; a silent auction of chef-designed packages; and a cocktail bar featuring local brews, spirits and wines for purchase. Vote anonymously along with expert guest judges to see who moves on to the next round and ultimately wins a classic truck!
     
    Featured chefs for 2018 are: Jonathan Ballard, Dean’s Kitchen and Bar; Trey Cleveland, Top of the Hill; Nick Fay, Coquette; Matt Hannon, Ironwood Café; Aaron Matyac, Whiskey Kitchen’ James Patterson, McConnell Golf; Troy Stauffer, City Club Raleigh; and Dean Thompson, Concord Hotels.
