Event description

Description

Come volunteer with CAMBA’s Respite Bed Program, an opportunity that houses a select group of people who are homeless at various churches and synagogues. As a volunteer, you’ll be serving at these churches and synagogues, making a real impact in the lives of these individuals by cooking dinner, sharing a meal, and/or staying overnight in a smaller, more intimate setting with CAMBA’s clients.

One thing that may be lacking in traditional homeless shelters is intimate and family-atmosphere meals. In the Respite Bed Program, we create a space for both volunteers and guests to have a home cooked meal as well as a clean and secure environment.

This volunteer opportunity can be really fun, flexible, and dynamic! Whether you have a passion for cooking, want to cook and prepare a meal with a few friends, are interested in sharing a meal with a diverse group of people experiencing poverty, or want to support these CAMBA clients by staying overnight, you can participate in one or all of those opportunities.

Schedule for volunteers:

5:30-8:00pm volunteers will be cooking, baking and setting up for dinner.

8:00 volunteers will engage in conversations during dinner, and then help clean up.

CAMBA is looking for volunteers to stay overnight at the shelter from 9:00pm-5:30am. A training will be included.

Volunteers will start cooking around 5:30pm, set up will start at 7:00pm, and dinner will begin around 8:00pm.

This will be a reoccurring event, so stay tuned for our next CAMBA cooking and overnights in January! If you’re interested but want more information about this volunteer opportunity, please reach out to Josh at josh.flink@werepair.org.

CAMBA takes a comprehensive approach to help individuals, families, and communities thrive, offering integrated programs in Economic Development, Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Health, Housing, and Legal Services.
