Event description

Description

Join Repair the World and other families to cook a hot meal for neighbors experiencing homelessness who are housed temporarily at B'Nai Jeshrun (BJ), which is part of the Emergency Shelter Network (ESN). The Emergency Shelter Network consists of over 50 faith-based communities that supplement and offer alternatives to the shelter system. BJ's shelter houses 10 women each night, Sunday-Thursday, year-round.

We'll spend time together learning about homelessness, understanding how the shelter system works, and cooking a vegetarian meal that clients will enjoy during their stay. Parents will spend time with Rachel Figurasmith, Senior Educator, talking about how to continue the conversation about homelessness in NYC with their children. Kids will spend time engaged in experiential learning activities on the same topic.

This event is designed for families with kids ages 10-14. Please note that space is limited for this opportunity.

E-mail Rachel.Figurasmith@werepair.org with questions.
