Event description

Description

On Thursday, we will have mini-conference which will include a keynote address by leading immersion researcher, Dr. Roy Lyster, Professor Emeritus from McGill University. In addition, conference attendees will participate in question/answer conversations with Dr. Lyster. The conference will have break-out sessions created by immersion teachers for immersion teachers showing best practices in their classrooms.

On Friday we will have an information session panel discussion sponsored by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette about "Not reinventing the Wheel: Working smarter not harder". The panel is designed for anyone who is interested in language immersion education and will also include a question/answer component. The panel will include Dr. Lyster, an immersion teacher, an immersion principal, and a Louisiana Department of Education representative.

We are planning food and snacks, so if you plan to attend both days, please register for both the Mini-Conference and the Friday information session. If your school is an LCIS member, there is a discount code. If you registered to attend a CARLA summer session, there is also a discount code. See LCIS and CARLA for the discount codes.

Let's start the conversation now. Please post your pre-conference questions here. We will use them to ask additional questions to the speakers and the panel members.

Here is the preliminary schedule and a list of the breakout sessions by strand (Administrator, English, French, and Spanish).
