Event description

Description

Connecting Smallholder Farmers to Science:

Improving the productivity and profitability of smallholder farming in the developing world has been shown to reduce poverty and increase economic security. Increased access to knowledge, research, and technology on smallholder farms must occur before sustainable improvements in agriculture are realized at scale in developing regions. Access and adoption of technology, however, is affected by social, political, economic, and other factors. Please join Danforth Center scientists Ruth Kaggwa, PhD, and Donald MacKenzie, PhD, executive director of the International Institute for Crop Improvement, for a conversation about smallholder farming, orphan crops, and bringing cutting-edge science to the people and regions that need it most.

5:15 PM: Networking Reception in the McDonnell Atrium

6:00 - 7:15 PM: Conversation in the AT&T Auditorium
