Event description
Join WE Events and Ria Pretekin of @urbanohana for Conversations and Cocktails to discuss Raising Cultural Awareness in Families.

About this Event

When was the first time you talked to your kids about race? Kids are not colorblind so how do we start the conversation with our kids? It's not just a one-time talk but an ongoing conversation. Join us for an evening of creating community by sharing stories and start the conversation about race, culture, and raising cultural awareness with intentionality. Let's build a positive awareness of diversity together in our community.

Facilitated by:

Debra Giunta is a social entrepreneur who focuses on youth development through the arts. Debra founded Prismatic, a 501(c)(3) non-profit teaching mission-driven leadership to 6th-12th grade Chicago teenagers. What is Book Binding and Why are we doing it?

Bookbinding is an art form. It’s a great way to foster a sense of community and personal pride in one's craft. Notebooks are a place to develop and hold one’s thoughts and ideas. Journaling and note taking can help us make important connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will create a notebook cover that represents your identity.
