Conversational Leadership: Integrating Recovery Supports Into Practice
Wed, March 29, 2017, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM EDT
On Wednesday March 29, 2017, The Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) and the University of Maryland, School of Medicine Training Center, is hosting its first Recovery Support Service Integration Conference, titled, “Conversational Leadership: Integrating Recovery Supports Into Practice”. The conference is by invitation only for individuals in key leadership positions statewide. The conference will take place at Temple Oheb Shalom,7310 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore, MD; 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. The fee to attend this conference is $55.
As we continue to work through phases of administrative integration, we are thoughtfully engaged in a process that requires an open dialogue to develop a more consistent cultural and philosophical integration within the state leadership that supports integrating recovery-oriented practices across behavioral health and primary care service settings, and within the community at large.
The conference will feature two keynote speakers. Our first speaker is Laurie Curtis, MA, CPRP, Senior Program Manager, Advocates Human Potential (AHP). Her presentation will explore some of the common and unique aspects of recovery from substance use and mental health conditions as well as challenges for both providers and service recipients. Examples of recovery oriented practices and recovery support services in action will be offered. The presentation will highlight RTP resources and how they can be used for workforce development in a variety of settings, including integrated behavioral health, criminal justice, housing and other social services.
Our second speaker is La Keita Carter, PsyD, Owner, Institute for HEALing, LLC. Dr. Carter will take participants on a journey of self-exploration through the lens of human relationships and culture. Her presentation will include moderation of a panel discussion of the themes presented. After lunch, we will continue with round table discussions followed by another expert panel discussion.
Thank you, we look forward to having you join us at this important training event.
