Conversational DC: Spanish (February 13)
Event Information
Description
Join us to speak Spanish in an immersive, free, social environment. The format is simple: show up, meet some new people, and have fun. No English allowed. Bringing a buddy is encouraged!
The event is upstairs, the bar is downstairs. Around the room will be facilitators and listeners with stickers. Facilitators are fluent and/or native speakers that are there to keep the conversation going. Listeners are language-lovers that are just there to observe and absorb.
If the event is sold out, we will admit walk-ins after 7 pm until we're at capacity. If you arrive after 7 pm with or without a ticket and the room is full, you're welcome to hang out downstairs.
If you're a native or fluent speaker that would like to help facilitate, send an email to conversationalDC@gmail.com. The Event Leader for this event Iris Cano will get in touch with you.
FAQs
What if I’m too scared to speak?
Totally understand. It's nerve-wracking to put yourself out there and make mistakes. Fortunately, you'll be surrounded by people making mistakes. To make it easier, bring a buddy. We will also have "listener" stickers for those who just want to absorb.
Do I have enough language experience to do this?
People that have zero language experience are still welcome to come. Maybe you'll pick up a word or two.
Is the event free?
YES! But drinks are not. Normal prices for drinks in exchange for letting us use the space for free. Happy hour is until 7 pm.
Are drinks free?
No. Tip your bartender!
How do I know there will be good speakers there?
We make sure there are fluent speakers at each event. Contact conversationaldc@gmail.com if you’re interested in being a facilitator.
Will there be future events in other languages?
Yes! If you have a specific interest, email conversationaldc@gmail.com.
