Event description

Description

“If you can change within yourself, then you can help change others”…Ray Rice, famed former running back for the Baltimore Ravens.

His fame, however, changed in a moment when he was captured on tape in 2014 physically abusing his then fiancé, Janay. Today, he is dedicated to “head on” addressing and speaking regarding how he lived his life in 2014 and the dramatic changes that have led him to today.

Please, join DVSD for our 2nd “Conversation With”…Ray and Janay as we candidly and openly discuss domestic violence from their eyes and perspective. The evening will focus on their story, its consequences. He sincerely believes sharing his deeply personal “comeback story” story/experience can help others avoid abuse. We are grateful Ray and Janay have included DVSD in that commitment.

The conversation will be led by John Canzano, radio host on on Portland's 102.9-FM and 750 AM "The Bald Face Truth" and sports reporter on KGW tv and The Oregonian. Mr. Canzano's investigative work and reporting about Brenda Tracy, the survivor of an alleged gang raped by four college football players, was recognized as the best sports writing in 2014 with a first place in the National Headliner Awards.

The "Conversation With" will focus on the domestic violence in Ray and Janay Rice's relationship as well as how it impacted the world of sport. We appreciate Mr. and Mrs. Rice's willingness to share their journey publicly to a path of non-violence. Sharing their experience to help others understand and avoid abuse is a gift.
