About this Event

Dr. Alix Pierre will be in conversation with Rosie Gordon-Wallace about the themes of 'Inter | Sectionality: Diaspora Art from the Creole City,' a multidisciplinary exhibition featuring predominantly Miami-based artists from across the Caribbean, with work ranging from photography to site-specific installations. Gordon-Wallace served as the curator of this exhibition, now on view at the Corcoran School until March 20, 2020.

A committed scholar, Dr. Pierre has completed an eight hundred-page book on gwoka, the traditional music of the island of Guadeloupe. Pierre currently sits on the board at the Latin American and Caribbean Community Center, is on the editorial board of 'Caribbean Vistas: Critique of Caribbean Arts and Culture,' and 'Negritud: Review of Afro-Latin American Studies,' and is an officer of the Caribbean Writers Congress.
