Convergencias is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It is a student-led tradition that brings Mexican students and Mexican enthusiasts together every year to discuss relevant issues that affect Mexico and its interaction with the U.S. and the world. Since its beginnings in 2007, Convergencias has brought experts from various fields, and has provided a forum for conversation on some of the most pertinent issues related to Mexico. It has given students the opportunity to listen to and engage in dialogue with academics, politicians, and economists such as President Ernesto Zedillo, Denise Dresser, Eduardo Medina Mora, Ernesto Cordero, Denise Maerker, Claudio X. Gonzalez, Gabriel Quadri, Eduardo Sojo, among others.

This Spring, MXGWU have the great honor of hosting Convergencias 2017: Building Together. The aim of Convergencias 2017 is to create a space for dialogue and analysis on Mexico’s current path and its future potential. The conference will feature experts in various fields—economic, political, development, energy, entrepreneurship—that together will lead our discussions. It is through this holistic analysis of the current situation in Mexico that we can begin to understand its recent rise in the face of many challenges, and its continuing climb among the international community. With the insight of our range of distinguished guests, we hope to gain a more holistic perspective on the challenges of Mexico’s civil society, economy, politics, and interaction with the world. Furthermore, Convergencias 2017 will bring a new component of dynamic interaction by engaging participants in roundtable discussions, question and answer sessions, and participant -centered conversations.

The event seeks to initiate a spark in the minds of our attendees that will result in innovations and movements with the potential to turn around the economic, political, and environmental situation of Mexico. This event would bring students from Boston, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and from cities in Mexico among many other places with the purpose of bringing together groups that would have not otherwise have the chance to interact and meet.

Confirmed speakers coming soon...
