Under 18 or full time education only Ticket for the following workshop "Hardware Interfacing with Multi-Coloured LEDs using the Raspberry Pi" 1 ticket required per Raspberry Pi - if working in pairs then please only book one ticket
Sam Walder and Jeremy Dalton (University of Bristol)
The raspberry pi is great for use in scenarios such as embedded systems; this means everything from home automation systems to remote monitoring and control. In this session we will be looking at interfacing the raspberry pi with buttons and LEDs via an I2C bus to produce some basic interactive systems. We intend for this workshop to prepare attendees with the knowledge and tools to start producing their own interactive systems.
The workshop will be based around using the Slice of PI/O with a custom made board of LEDs and switches, the design intends for the user to be able to easily expand the system to their own application. The equipment used in this workshop will be available to purchase on the day at a cost of £8
All the equipment provided by us will have been fully tested before use however there is still always a risk of damaging your raspberry pi when wiring things to it.
Instruction will be provided and help as needed but all of the equipment you bring will still be your responsibility and we will not be liable for any damage that could result from your pi being wired up incorrectly
You will require
- A raspberry pi running the latest Raspbian “wheezy” image (SD cards will be available to buy at the workshop for £5 and is in addition to the cost of the I2C Port expander kits)
- A suitable power supply
- Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard
Additional equipment required (not provided by BCS):
Please bring your own monitor, keyboard and mouse.
