Control of Biohazards Course is designed to provide in-depth information to participants with or without prior biosafety experience. This course will appeal to people who have or wish to apply for the ABSA International RBP - Registered Biological Safety Professional or CBSP – Certified Biological Safety Professional certification. The class is approved by the ABSA Credentialing Maintenance Board (CMB) for 4.5 points.

What makes this investment of time and $$ worthwhile?

This course has trained over 2,000 biosafety professionals in the USA and Middle East since 1979. Field experienced academic, industry, and government biosafety professionals teach the course. Attendees receive 1,500 USB pages of hyperlinked tables of contents and source documents. No other course offers this content. The course is less expensive than the ABSA principles and practices course.

What is unique and valuable about this opportunity?

Course faculty serve or have served at the highest level of federal biosafety policy development. The course director, Richard W Gilpin Ph.D., RBP CBSP is a research microbiologist with 35 years of professor-level experience on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University and Hospital, University of Maryland Baltimore, University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, and Medical College of Pennsylvania (Drexel University). He also served as research and development manager at Becton, Dickinson and Company and was biosafety director/officer, or research compliance officer at these three medical schools.

What will the information learned enable the attendee to do better in their job, organization, career?

This course presents biosafety and biosecurity information that can be templated to any research organization. The course contains all of the information needed to pass the examination for certification as an ABSA International Certified Biological Safety Professional. Some of the course faculty write the ABSA exam questions and are directly involved in the revision of the BMBL 6th Edition.
