According to the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, among the generation of World War II veterans, 49 percent of veterans started their own businesses after returning home. This incredible commitment to entrepreneurship among the “greatest generation” led to an unprecedented post-war economic boom. This story has not yet been replicated by the post-9/11 generation of veterans.
According to the Kauffman Foundation study, while 12 percent new entrepreneurs were veterans in 1996; in 2011, just six percent of new entrepreneurs were veterans.
Bunker Labs is seizing this opportunity to expand the ranks of veteran entrepreneurs. As the American economy advances and innovates, the value of American veterans needs to be understood and activated.
