Semi Automated Mason (“SAM”):
a live and in-person demonstration
Chris Raddell & Scott Peters, Construction Robotics
Technology is transforming construction. CAD, GPS and BIM started the trend with automation of visual data for communication. Many building assemblies are now built off site, transported to the site and then installed by trades people to exacting tolerances. Construction is a dance of people, tools and materials. Trades that are required to be on site have more tools available to them than ever. Hydro-Mobile mast climbing lifts are just one example of a tool that has transformed the way masons work. Is robotics the next step in the advancement of masonry tools? SAM is a mason tool that takes digital designs and uses automation to directly places the brick per the design. SAM currently lays bricks at a pace of 300 to 400+ bricks per hour and can incorporate architectural features with little or no field layout time required. SAM does over 90% of the heavy lifting for the mason leading to longer careers and less wear and tear.
Come to the DCTC to meet SAM, spend some time with SAM and see how SAM might enhance the future of masonry.
Demo’s will start at 7am in two hour increments: 7am, 9am, break for lunch then 12pm, 2pm and later if needed.
