Last Exit to Kai Tak (dir. Mr. Matthew Torne, 2018)

This documentary film weaves together the stories and interactions of five Hong Kong activists and their friends in Hong Kong in a post-Umbrella Movement period. With astonishing fluidity, it portrays these individuals as they come to terms with life. The film has been shown at different film festivals across the world, e.g. the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in South Korea, the Hong Kong Independent Film Festival in Hong Kong, and One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

  • 2 pm – 3 pm Afternoon Session: Roundtable Discussion

Discussants:

Dr William Brown (University of Roehampton)

Dr Ruby Cheung (University of Southampton)

Dr Victor Fan (King’s College London)

Mr. Matthew Torne (full-time independent filmmaker)

Dr Kiki Tianqi Yu (Queen Mary University of London)

For enquiries, please contact Dr Ruby Cheung (Ruby.Cheung@soton.ac.uk).
