Contemplating the Words and Images of Advent: A Morning Reflection
Come, Let us walk in the light of the Lord! - Isaiah 2:5

Tuesday,  December 3, 9:30am-12:00pm
Facilitated by Sr. Glenna Czachor, OSF

In today’s age, we are inundated with images and stories of violence, uncertainty and fear. The readings for the first Sunday of Advent call us to be awake and attentive - to look at the world around us and the realities of our lives. The Prophet Isaia tells us to "walk in the light of the Lord" by being people of peace, not anger; of hope, not despair; joy, not sorrow.

The Advent season is a special time for us to remind ourselves of the promise of our loving God, and how his divine wisdom is within each of us. We only need to recognize the many ways God is present in our lives each day and how we can be a reflection of his love to those around us.

During this morning of reflection, we will contemplate the scriptures and themes of Advent, and gaze upon sacred images using the practices of Lectio Divina - "sacred reading" and Visio Divina - "sacred seeing". These ancient forms of Christian prayer allow our hearts and imaginations to enter into sacred texts and images in deep silence and listening with our soul to what the Lord desires to say to us.

Sr. Glenna Czachor, OSF is a Wheaton Franciscan with more than 25 years expereince in group facilitation and retreat leadership, specializing in prayer and worship, scripture study, and creative spirituality.
