In September, we launched a public consultation to invite feedback on the Council’s new Early Years Strategy, which sets out the Council’s vision, priorities and principles that underpin all the services it provides for young children and their families, and outlines how it will protect those services into the future.

The new strategy includes proposed changes to how we deliver children’s centre services across the borough, including the development of new ‘children and family hubs’, and the closure of two children’s centres. The centres being proposed for closure are:

Fernbank Children’s Centre - 1A Fountayne Rd, N16 7EA

Hillside Children’s Centre - 1 Leatherhead Cl, N16 5QR

We have met with families who are directly impacted by the proposed changes. We are now holding a general meeting which is open to families directly impacted by the proposal, as well as wider communities who may be interested in finding out more about the proposals.

We continue to encourage you to read the consultation papers and respond accordingly. As a reminder, the consultation runs from 5pm Wednesday 15 September until Tuesday 16 November, at: consultation.hackney.gov.uk. The feedback will inform the future configuration of services.
