Event description

Description

This workshop introduces the pros and cons of several building methods available for oven construction: masonry, poured refractory, cob and dry stacked masonry. Participants will build two ovens on site using the two methods easiest for DIY - a cob oven and a stacked masonry oven.

The workshop includes admission to Geyer’s Oven Pizza on Thursday evening. Each oven at Geyer’s is unique and participants will have the opportunity to tour the ovens during firing and production - and of course, feast on the pizza!

Friday morning will focus on setting a hearth. This is an essential skill for building an oven of any method. Following will be an introduction to the technical skills, design and layout of the ovens. Friday afternoon and Saturday will be dedicated to building the ovens.

Friday and Saturday lunches are included in the class fee, and will feature fresh, homemade food baked in our ovens.

Overnight lodging available upon request. Contact us at info@landalliancefolk.com or 319.601.8939.
