Conversation + Book Release of 500 Capp Street
500 Capp Street is the late David Ireland’s (MFA, 1974) best-known work, an 1890s Victorian in the Mission District of San Francisco that the artist transformed into an immersive artwork, studio space, and the site of legendary dinners. Ireland’s renovations became experiments in form, material, and social space and presaged many artist-designed homes.
Join curator and author Constance M. Lewallen for the book release of 500 Capp Street, the first publication to chronicle the remarkable history of Ireland’s home.
Amy Trachtenberg and Gay Outlaw will join Lewallen in conversation and there will be a book signing following the talk with copies of 500 Capp Street available for sale.
