Event description

Description

Consider the Source returns home from their West Coast tour to Brooklyn to perform at the one and only House of Yes! CTS’s original drummer Justin Ahiyon has been putting his heart and soul into this venue and is working together with CTS to make this a night to remember. Come early for Ross Jenssen and stay late for an after party starting immediately following CTS’s set. Be sure to come early and stay all night!

Consider the Source:

NYC trio Consider the Source defy easy description. If, intergalactic beings of pure energy, after initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built some kind of pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine, powered by psychedelics and abstract math-- it’d probably sound like a CTS tribute band. Drawing from progressive rock, fusion, jazz, with alien sounds soaked in Indian and Middle Eastern styles, CTS blends disparate parts into a striking, utterly original whole. Dubbed “Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion” the band’s music strikes a rare balance between cerebral and emotional, intellectual and primal. A relentless touring schedule has won the band a fervent following from California to Israel, with fans ranging from jam-band hippies and jazz cats to corpse-painted headbangers and prog geeks.

Opener: Ross Jenssen

Comprised of Brian Ross (bass), Sam McGarrity (guitar), and Jules Jenssen (drums)- Ross Jenssen combines the heaviness and acrobatics of progressive-instrumental-metal with the dynamics and ethereal textures of a cinematic score. Imagine the instrumentalists of Tool backing up Hans Zimmer….
Utilizing modern performance technology for mind-bending audio, video, and lighting effects in real time as well as good old fashioned high level musicianship, Ross Jenssen is able to create a unique new sound that has already started to win over music fans of all interests.

Out on 2.7.17, "Stories," is the sophomore release from heavy-future-groove trio, Ross Jenssen. Performed and recorded in-studio live as an ensemble with minimal overdubs added in post production. Drawing upon the heavier sounds found amongst the more diverse styles comprising their debut release, "Phrases," the "Stories" EP exemplifies Ross Jenssen's desire to dish out heavy music for heavy times.
