Event description

Description

The End of Life Coalition of Southwest Washington and our sponsors invite you to attend a free screening and discussion of Consider the Conversation: A Documentary on a Taboo Subject on Wednesday, November 1st from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at PeaceHeatlh System Services Center.

Consider the Conversation: A Documentary on a Taboo Subject provides a 360-degree view on end-of-life care. It features the perspectives of three terminally ill patients in their 50’s and the professionals who typically care for these kinds of people – doctors, nurses, social workers and clergy – as well as several leading national experts. Consider the Conversation does not provide the viewer with any particular answer. Instead, it provides us with some of the questions we all need to think about and answer for ourselves.

The film's goal is to inspire dialogue between patient and doctor, husband and wife, parent and child, clergy and congregants. This is not a story about death; it's a film about living life to its fullest.

Learn more about:

  • The importance of advance care planning for everyone

  • The emotional, physical and social burdens of dying

  • Talking with others about end-of-life wishes

After the screening, Lynn Crawford, Education Coordinator for the End of Life Coalition of Southwest Washington, will facilitate a discussion with the audience and a panel of professionals centered around important questions raised by Consider the Conversation and share with the audience how they can take concrete steps to identify and communicate wishes about end-of-life goals and preferences.
