Event description
A clothes on follow up practice session for attendees of the full day consent workshops

About this Event

This is a practice day for anyone who attended the the full day consent workshops we ran on 26th October 2019, 29th March 2020 or 4th April 2020.

Consent, choice and honouring boundaries is an ongoing practice.

It is never done. It is a practice.

Every time I play or witness the 3-Minute Game I learn something new about myself and others.

Do I have to touch people to participate in this practice session?

In a word – no!

Many people think consent and the 3-Minute Game is all about touch. In fact, it is all about choice. Every time you make a choice you are participating.

Knowing what you want, as well as what you don’t want is the key.

Witnessing is incredibly valuable and you will be encouraged to witness during this practice day.

In this clothes-on session we will continue to:

• Develop awareness of what we want and who we want to explore with

• Share thoughts and feelings around consent and choice

• Practice making requests and hearing a variety of answers

• Explore why we hesitate to ask for what we want

• Learn ways of breathing to help relax, de-stress and enjoy sensations differently

• Discover how movement can reduce anxiety and tension, and feel more resilient throughout the body

• Introduce dialogue around boundaries and consent

• Watch a demo the 3-Minute Game

• Try out or witness the 3-Minute Game for ourselves

• Establish new ways to ask for what you want and refine it to meet your needs

What can you expect?

• Sessions are conversational, interactive and informative

• We all keep our clothes on and there is no requirement to be touched or touch anyone else

• We create a confidential, neutral space for you to ask questions and share experiences

• We will have both cushions and chairs available to sit on during the event. The invitation is to get comfy

• An opportunity to get to know other adventurers and develop community

What to bring and what to wear?

• A water bottle

• A hot drinks container with a lid for complimentary teas

• Comfy clothes

• Notebook and pen

Acknowledging that this is, for some, a daunting and new experience, and I want to encourage people to engage as freely as they can. We will be creating a neutral, relaxed and confidential space. Sue will be available to talk on a one to one basis after the event.

Testimonials from previous events

"Such an interesting and informative evening. At first I thought it might have been better to have a women only session but actually it was really interesting to hear the opinions of the men that were present. I definitely learnt a lot and feel more confident in understanding why I like what I do and how to talk to my partners about it." - Tanya

"The sex education you wish you’d had sooner. This workshop should be mandatory for everyone who has a vulva, or wants to have sex with a person who has a vulva. Sue is one of those sensational people who puts everyone at ease and ensures all participants feel safe asking those questions they’ve been too scared to discuss with their best friends. You will leave this session with an intimate knowledge of the anatomy of the vulva, amazing clarity of consent, and a conviction of how to ask for what you want without settling for anything less. But most importantly you will have fun and share laughter and tears and frustrations and fears with your fellow participants. Life’s too short not to know this stuff so learn it as soon as you can. " - Helen G

• Supporter: £65

• Regular: £55

• Low-income or student: £45

We want these workshops to be available to those who want to attend. With that in mind there are 3 rates to choose from. The regular price is £55. If you are able to give more, as a supporter, that helps us offer reduced prices for those on a low income or studying.

We operate on an honesty basis and if the low-income band is right for you, please choose that.

Venue & Accessibility

We will be using the top room in the Bonnington Centre and this involves 3 sets of stairs.

Sadly there is no lift and is therefore not accessible for all. I apologise for this.

The kitchen is on the 1st floor and we can make hot drinks, as well as store food in the fridge for anyone bringing food for lunch.

You can read more about the Bonnington Centre here: http://www.bonningtoncentre.org.uk/

There is a vegan cafe on the ground floor of the centre, as well as a vegetarian option across the road. Within 5 minutes walk there is a brilliant cafe serving everything from english breakfasts to roast dinners, plus a Nandos and a small Sainsburys by Vauxhall Station.

You are also welcome to bring your own lunch and eat it in the kitchen or in the nearby garden across the road from the centre.
