Description

Are you interested in film, television, and digital media but unsure where to begin? The ConnectNext speaker series is a bi-weekly TED-like event that takes place at UConn Stamford and UConn Hartford campuses. Running from September through December, these small intimate talks connect professionals from Connecticut’s leading content producers to high school and undergraduate students seeking advice about their next steps toward a successful career as a designer, animator, filmmaker, and other exciting roles emerging within the digital media industry.

Featured ConnectNext Speaker this week is Eric Urquhart, Senior Matte Painter/ Environment Artist at Blue Sky Studios, a Twenty First Century Fox animation studio located in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Urquhart graduated from Otis College of Art + Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. His experience in the entertainment industry reaches across all genres. He has been creating concept art, matte painting, and set extensions for commercials, games, television and feature films for the past 15 years.

Highlights include: working on the academy award winning and nominated films such a “Life of Pi“ and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” creating the “Cars Land” sign for the Disneyland theme park, and his work on Oscar-nominated animated features “The Book of Life” and “Ferdinand.”
