Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Creating the world you want to live in often starts with a connection – across culture, race or faith. But finding that connection and learning to love a new culture can be a beautiful challenge.

Join our panelists — Jakara Chas, Stephanie Kripa Cooper-Lewter, Sandra Jamali and Aisha Miller — for an intimate conversation on the power and difficulty of blending cultures in our deepest relationships. You’ll gain a new appreciation for the strengths that bind us together and shape a community.

Our panelists have blended Iranian and Ecuadorian heritages into an American family, embraced the Islamic faith of their partner, married interracially, committed to raising adopted children in their culture and grown up in the Midwest while honoring Indian roots.

Join us for an evening of authentic storytelling and conversation, and come away inspired by the real-world change that is sparked when we understand and celebrate each other in friendship, marriage and family.

PANELISTS:

  • Jakara Chas, Co-Creator, Charleston Good
  • Stephanie Kripa Cooper-Lewter, Ph.D., M.S.W., Vice President of Initiatives & Public Policy at the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina
  • Sandra Jamali, Founder, Live Well Charleston
  • Aisha Miller, Founder, Knowledge Erases Hate
