Event description

Description

The third event in the Winter Haven Public Library's 2017-18 Lecture Series:

Connecting the Dots: the Origins of Our Chain of Lakes presented by Bob Gernert, Jr.

Construction of our famous Chain of Lakes began in earnest in 1915 but the concept had been discussed as early as 1912. What were the original purposes for connecting our lakes, how long did it take? There are sixteen lakes in the southern chain and nine in the northern. Join us and learn facts and figures relevant to the engineering plan that led men and women of vision to "connect the dots' - making Winter Haven "The Chain of Lakes City."

Bob Gernert, Jr. is a student of Winter Haven History and founder of the Museum of Winter Haven History.
