Description

Leanring Objectives:

  • Define Open Recovery as an identity and essential concept in public health discussions/evaluations - a key part of effective continuums of care (prevention, treatment, recovery - advocacy and support).
  • Identify barriers of stigma and shame that are contributing to discrimination and inequity of care (including access/research/funding) and as a challenge to the short-term view of "treatment".
  • Understand the value of environments that are conducive to long-term recovery - that strengthen public health, personal dignity, social justice, organizational diversity, and inclusivity.
  • Understanding the value of a paradigm shift, developing shared language, giving voice to individuals, building recovery community, empowering a recovery constituency, supporting policy change.
