Event description

Connected Parenting is a research-based class that uses concepts from Love & Logic, The Gottman Institute, and Attachment Theory.

You'll learn:

  • the tools you need to connect with your child on an emotional level
  • how to create boundaries for your children in a loving way
  • the basics of attachment
  • how emotions are central to our connection with our children
  • and how to decrease chaos, conflict, and contempt in your relationship with your children

This workshop will be limitied to 8 participants, allowing for deeper conversation and time to address your unique questions.

Each attendee will receive one free 30-minute consultation to dive deeper into the content and how it can apply to your family in the week following the class.

What is Love & Logic?

The Love and Logic Institute is dedicated to making parenting and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic. Their teachings are based on a psychologically sound parenting and teaching philosophy called Love and Logic. One of the main tennets of Love & Logic is that children learn the best lessons when they're given a task and allowed to make their own choices (and fail) when the cost of failure is still small. Children's failures must be coupled with love and empathy from their parents and teachers. In my experience helping hundred of parents find calm in their parenting, showing empathy is a challenge with our over-scheduled, high-stress lives. This class will help you learn how to show empathy, even when you're at your own wits' end!

What is the Gottman Method?

The Gottman Institute teaches a method of couples therapy that focuses on research-based interventions. Their work on emotional intelligence helps parents build emotional intelligence in themselves and their chidlren, which creates positive, long lasting effects for children.

What is Attachment Theory and why do I need to know about it as a parent?

Psychologist John Bowlby defined attachment as a "lasting psychological connectedness between human beings." Bowlby discovered that childhood plays a critical role in the formation of attachments and early experiences. He further found that our childhood attachments could have an impact on the relationships people form later in life. As a parent, there are many things you can do to bolster your attachment with your child. This strong attachment will make parenting easier in the long run as your child will be more compliant due to a strong connection.

Why is this all relevant to me?

These three approaches to parenting are research-validated and can revolutionize how you interact with your children. This class will boil it down for you with clear, concise, and action-oriented tools you can start using with your chidlren right away.

If I've taken a Love & Logic class, will this class still be relevant to me?

Yes--while this class loosely pulls from some Love & Logic principles, the class is a compilation of the three models mentioned above.

What if my partner can't come to the class?

You'll go home with worksheets and information you can share if your partner can't make it. I also extend a 20% discount to a future class for your partner to attend.

Is childcare provided?
