Connect! is a free 1-day youth conference. Several United Methodist churches from around Western PA have joined together to create this event. Our mission is hinted in our event name. Through this one day together, we hope to draw into a deeper connection with our God as well as a greater connection with youth and leaders from other churches.
We believe that God works in powerful ways through retreats like this. We realize however that weekend retreats can be costly and require a lot of time. That is why we are looking to pack in that weekend retreat experience in a single day where it is absolutely FREE for our youth.
What to expect: As a Christian retreat, we put high priority on worshipping Jesus and understanding our faith through the Bible. An important part of our day, therefore, will be our 2 worship sessions. There we'll sing praises to God as well as hear from God's word. Also during the day, we'll have time for games (kickball, 4 square, mafia, and more!). Lastly, we won't leave you hungry. We will have two free meals (lunch and dinner) that we'll enjoy together.
Our Speaker: This year, we are welcoming Amanda Gilligan. Amanda is the coordinator for youth and young adults for the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Conference. Amanda brings many years of experience in ministry in the church. She will be talking to our youth (at our 2 worship session) about FEAR. In a time where "fear" is prevalent in our culture, we need to be reminded why God has told his people again and again not to fear.
Are there age requirements to enter the event?
The event is for youth 6-12th grade.
What can I bring into the event?
We encourage you to bring your Bible. You are also welcome to bring some cash since we will have a vendor at the event. AS A Christian event, DO NOT bring drugs, alcohol, weapons or any clothing that endorses such things.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Principal Coordinator: Luke Whipple email: firstname.lastname@example.org phone: 724-443-3184
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
The registration ticket gives us a head count to prepare for the meals. There is no need to bring a printed ticket. Save some ink and trees!
