Guest Speaker Dr. Richard Rhoads
Rick is the Chair of the Church and Ministry Leadership Department at Lancaster Bible College and Capital Seminary & Graduate School. He has served as a Professor of Student Ministry, Leadership, and Spiritual Formation for the past 12 years. His passion is cultivating spiritual health in emerging and seasoned leaders, resulting in healthy leadership which then impacts their respective families and ministries. Rick received a Bachelor of Science in Christian Education from Lancaster Bible College, a M.A. in Leadership from Columbia Biblical Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from George Fox Evangelical Seminary in Global Leadership. Over the past 22 years, he has served in Student Ministry and Pastoral roles at Lebanon Valley YFC, LCBC, Calvary Bible Church, and Riverbend Community Church. Rick and his wife Naomi live in East Petersburg, PA with their two teenagers Grace and Eli.

Leadership Track - Building a Strategy for Teaching Children Truth (Kathy Noel)
When we think about teaching Bible truth, our minds usually go directly to curriculum. But, let’s take a step back from curriculum to look at the bigger picture! How do we teach in a way that will help our kids develop a biblical world view that will affect all of life, for a whole lifetime?
Spiritual Formation Track - Inspiring Kingdom Creativity in the Next Generation (deAnn Roe)
This workshop will change the way you think about creativity. You’ll learn how to inspire children to walk in their God-given creativity and come away with a few creative ideas to help deepen their relationship with God.
Outreach Track - Beyond Pinatas and Taco Chips: Equipping Kids for Missions (Margie Marsh)
Children can share God’s heart for the world! This workshop will help you understand why and equip you with 25+ practical ideas you can use in your ministry with children.
SESSION 2 BREAKOUTS:
Nursery Track - Nursery Roundtable (Anna Filgrove)
During this breakout we will offer a roundtable discussion led by Anna Filgrove. Some topics of focus during this time will be: Curriculum, training, scheduling, connecting with parents, etc… Come and join the discussion while hearing what others are doing.
Bible Storytelling Track - Biblical Storytelling—Part 2 (Jackie Towns)
In Workshop Part 2, we’re going to dig a little deeper and start searching for those Spiritual Treasures that God weaves into His stories. Jesus penetrated the hearts, challenged their thinking, and changed worldviews through a process of telling stories and asking questions that invited discussions.
Children’s Ministry Track - Leading a Small Group (Heidi Christner)
We will talk about easy and simple truths that translate to various ages, curriculums, and denominations. It is in small groups that discipleship happens. Practical ideas will be shared to help in this relationship building process.
Children’s Ministry Track - Communicating the Message of Jesus to this Generation (Karen Helmuth)

Special Needs Track - Building a Structure for Special Needs Ministry (Kristen Schussler)
This seminar will focus on ways you can build a Special Needs ministry to not only provide a safe, loving environment, but also to provide ample opportunities for each participant and their families to experience God’s love and purpose. Come prepared to think outside the box and inside your heart.
Leadership Track - Leading from the Second Chair (David Zimmerman)
As a children’s ministry leader, you are usually a leader in the second chair. The success of your ministry and relationships will be impacted by your understanding of and response to your second chair role. This session will explore the challenges and blessings of leading a ministry while also following senior leadership. Practical solutions to real-life problems will be addressed.
Spiritual Formation Track - Discipleship-Focused Ministry with Children (Esther Zimmerman)
We want to see our children coming to know, love and obey God – both now and for a lifetime – but is it happening? We can’t expect a program or curriculum to do the job; instead, we must consider our ministries as a whole to be sure that the essential ingredients are in place.
Outreach Track - Reaching Beyond Your School and Neighborhood (Kori Pennypacker)
Hear how to reach children and their families outside your church walls in easy and efficient way that will enhance your ministry.
