CONGRESSMAN NUNES' WATER FORUM
Event Information
Description
As you know, California is on the verge of disaster. Our economy depends on the ability to move water from the state’s northern reaches to the south via the Central Valley Project and the State Water Project. This infrastructure serves more than three million acres of farmland and over 25 million people. However, due to a lack of political leadership, the state is not making the investments needed to keep these projects fully operational.
Furthermore, extreme environmental regulations have severely restricted our water supply under the Endangered Species Act. Consequently, we are facing catastrophic water supply shortages – in other words, we are experiencing a regulatory drought.
I would like to invite you to a water forum I am hosting on August 31st. This forum will discuss the likely trajectory of the water crisis, practical solutions, and strategies for survival.
It is no exaggeration to say that San Joaquin Valley communities are facing a humanitarian crisis. I urge you to join me at the water forum so we can explore how local, state, and federal officials, civil society organizations, and private enterprise can cooperate to end this crisis once and for all.
