We face the rise of racism on many fronts. Theresa May is putting hostility to migrants and an attack on the “free movement of labour” at the heart of Brexit.
EU nationals face an uncertain future and are being used as bargaining chips in Brexit negotiations.
Migrants and refugees are constantly scapegoated by the Tories, UKIP and the right wing press.
The far right are gaining support across Europe.
Far right groups here have tried to mobilise in the wake of the Westminster attack to divide our communities and whip up Islamophobia.
Donald Trump’s election as US President, his Muslim Ban and the call to build a wall to keep out Mexican migrants have given confidence to racists everywhere.
But we also saw 30,000 people join the Stand Up To Racism demonstration on 18 March, and a host of local initiatives have confronted Trump and May’s racism.
It’s crucial that we build a movement capable of beating back the racists and building unity in our workplaces, colleges and communities.
Come and join in the debate about how to build that movement.
