Event description

Description

Speaker: Mariana Bissonnette

In this workshop, you will learn about the developmental context of how and when collaboration naturally comes about at the end of the first plane (0-6) and come away with practical tools to move conflicts to resolution so that this collaboration is possible. We will navigate both peer-to-peer conflicts as they come up with in the classroom, with siblings or play-dates as well as adult-to-child conflicts.

Collaboration is built-in to the child's natural development and is a necessary and internal part of human society. Part of Dr. Montessori's work toward Peace Education is founded in the developmental reality that we are born to be collaborators - we just need guidance along the way! Much of this guidance comes in the form of giving children in the first plane (0-6) the tools to handle conflict and then resolve it - this allows their social development to blossom into peaceful collaborators! We will discuss conflicts with the self, peer-to-peer conflicts and adult-to-child conflicts with a focus on how to use freedoms and limits to guide children (and ourselves) to resolution.

Target Audience: All (teachers, assistants, administrators, parents, etc)

This workshop will include free breakfast.

This event is FREE to BAMA members, and $35 for non-members. BAMA membership is $35 per year and includes FREE admission to all of our workshops for that academic year. Please see our website for more info.
