Description

Conference on Creating Pathways from Youth Incarceration to Higher Education

Co-Hosted by Youth Law Center and San Mateo County Community College District, Project Change

Funded by CA Wellness Foundation

Please join us for a statewide conference to increase post-secondary education opportunities in California for young people impacted by the juvenile justice system.

The goal of the conference is to support the implementation of higher education programs in every county throughout the state by sharing knowledge and experience about effective programs and by addressing policy barriers to program success and sustainability.

The conference will provide:

  • Presentations from community college, probation, education and advocacy leaders about successful programs
  • Workshops on implementing effective practices, overcoming obstacles, and building strong cross-agency partnerships
  • Opportunities to network, engage with, and learn from a wide range of organizations dedicated to this work
  • A panel of juvenile justice impacted students who have navigated higher education

Lunch and beverages are included in the registration fee.

We encourage counties to bring teams that include your colleagues from local community colleges, the probation department, the county office of education, community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and students.

We look forward to having you join us for this groundbreaking event to support youth impacted by the juvenile justice system to achieve their highest education goals.
