At Glen Oaks Farm Plus Free Open Rehearsal - Friday, September 17
About this event
On September 18th we present ChamberFest 2021 where we will find ourselves at Glen Oaks Farm for the unveiling of the World Premier of Clouds of Gill by Paul Wiancko (paulwiancko.com). Commissioned by Concordia and fashioned on cloud spotting, this uplifting and inspired composition is written for clarinet, violin, and cello. We are so proud and excited to welcome a new chamber work into the world!
Also featured on the program will be a string trio by French composer, Jean Cras who found his inspiration from regions visited during his career as a naval officer, capturing the spirit of Celtic fiddling, the exoticism of the West Indies and Senegal, and the jazz harmonies of the Americas. The program will also feature another of my favorite compositions by Paul Wiancko entitled American Haiku for viola and cello.
The grounds of Glen Oaks Farm will be open to ticket holders at 5:30 p.m. for a pre-concert reception which will include wine, Prosecco, and a gourmet picnic box full of delectable appetizers. Bring a blanket and find a spot outside! In the event of bad weather, the spacious first floor of the barn will be available for picnicking.
Doors will open for the concert at 6:45 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. sharp. Once indoors, we ask that everybody observes strict Covid protocols: masks will be required for the safety of audience members, volunteers, and the musicians.
