FAQs

I have never been to a harvest. Can you give me an idea what to expect?

Here is a short video on what you can expect when you volunteer with The Urban Farmers.

Is there an age limit?

Children must be 6 years or older and accompanied by a parent/guardian. If you have a driver's license and your own transportation you may come on your own.

Can I come without registering?
No. Each harvest can accommodate a limited number of volunteers, and our insurance policy requires volunteers to provide emergency contact information and to review and accept the terms and conditions of the Release of Liability Agreement before attending a harvest.

Where Will We Meet?
If we know the starting location of a harvest, the address is listed on the event page (below under WHERE). Most of the time we do not know the starting location until 24-48 hours before the harvest. At that time we will email the address to all registered volunteers and update the address on this page.

Organized by

We are a grassroots, all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, a project under Sustainable Lafayette, located in the East Bay of San Francisco. We harvest excess backyard fruit for donation to the needy and in the process help learners understand issues related to food and food insecurity. Our focus is on hunger relief and building healthy, resilient communities.
