Description

Complex shapes of WC-Co grades can be produced by conventional powder processing technologies such as die pressing, cold isostatic, metal injection molding, green machining and co-sinter bonding. However, recent advances in WC-Co powder technology and binder jetting technology have substantially enhanced the capability to manufacture complex product at a variety sizes and part quantities. For lower component quantities, the elimination of press tooling or MIM tooling can dramatically accelerate the development and delivery time. In addition, additive manufacturing can incorporate unique features into components, which are not capable with other processes. This presentation will explore the challenges and emerging innovations required to produce commercial quality WC-Co components by binder jet processing.
