Description

You are invited to an intellectually stimulating conversation between Dr. Mark T. Bedell, superintendent of Kansas City Public Schools and Dr. Joshua Dunn, professor at University of Colorado Springs and author of Complex Justice: The Case of Missouri v. Jenkins. This partnership event between Kansas City Public School and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation invites the broad community to discuss the important desegregation case of Missouri v. Jenkins.

The Kansas City community is preparing for an exciting year in 2019 with Kansas City Public School board, mayoral and councilmember elections upcoming. As we move into the future of our city we invite you to learn a little more about our past and how it can inform our present. Learn about the history of segregation and desegregation and how it impacted the Kansas City School District.

Event Details:

Doors open at 5:00 pm on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Event begins at 5:30pm and ends at 6:30pm.

A closing reception and book signing with the author is available after event.

Engage in a fireside chat with Dr. Bedell and Dr. Dunn, hear from special guest that were leaders in the community when this historic desegregation case was taking place, and converse with the next generation about the present and the future of education in Kansas City.
