The 2019 Community Foundation's Competitive Edge Forum will focus on workforce development and skills attainment through higher education. Based on research and surveys, we know that it is imperative that 60% of the residents in Greater Greensboro need more than a high school diploma for our community to thrive. This forum will focus on key community partners, successful programs, and additional resources needed to reach the goal of having 60% of our residents with a professional certification or post-secondary degree by 2030. Speakers and topices include the following:

Demographic Changes – Impact on Guilford County Workforce

  • James Johnson, Jr., William Rand Kenan, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Management, Sociology and Public Policy, UNC – Chapel Hill

The Role of Community and Public Schools in Workforce Development

  • Sharon Contreras, Superintendent, Guilford County Schools

The Role of Higher Education

  • Frank Gilliam, Chancellor, UNCG • Harold Martin, Chancellor, NC A&T

  • Randy Parker, President, GTCC • Larry Czarda, President, Greensboro College

The Role of Employers

  • Anita Bachmann, CEO, United Healthcare/NC

This event is free and open to the public. Registration and a light breakfast will be available at 7:30 am. The program will begin at 7:45 am.
