Who: Caregivers and or staff of individuals with I/DD
It is so easy to get caught up in overwhelming number of tasks that need to get done for those we are serving. We have to be intentional to connect to the heart and soul of the individual in front of us in order to best meet their needs while completing tasks. Lack of intentionality can lead to negative experiences for both the person and for the one providing support. Participants will be energized and refocused on connecting with the individual in front of them rather than a task to complete or another situation to deal with. They will have new awareness to different abilities and increased self-awareness to the affect verbal & non-verbal communication has on interactions. Burn out and stress management will be discussed and a time for problem solving real life situations will occur.
