Compassion in Action (CIA) is a nonprofit initiative in Los Angeles committed to meeting the essential needs of the homeless population living on the streets of Skid Row, downtown Los Angeles. CIA started two years ago when Erica Lindsay and her friend Sam Prime, moved by the great plight and need of the homeless on Skid Row, took it upon themselves to help. They walked up and down the streets of Skid row handing out food to homeless children, mothers, fathers and individuals of various walks of life. In less than 30 minutes all of the food they brought was gone. More than ever before, they then realized the great need at Skid Row was much bigger than they had initially thought.
CIA came about afterwards and became a much more regular outreach embarked upon. Our mission is to meet the basic needs of the homeless population living on the streets of Skid Row. We rely solely on the generosity of individuals and businesses like you for support. We also depend on the assistance of volunteers. Without their support we wouldn’t be able to serve the homeless community. Since January 2014, CIA has fed over 2,000 people. In addition to distributing food, we also now give out hygiene kits.
