Description

If you work in the helping profession, self-care is a must. Emotional, physical, and spiritual needs are often overlooked. This training will provide you ways to learn the importance of self-awareness, self-care and how to recognize the signs of compassion fatigue.

  • Awareness
    • What is Compassion Fatigue? How is it differentiated from other work-related stress/conditions?
  • Assessment
    • Knowing and understanding your level of work health
  • Planning
    • Building a personal and professional self-care plan
  • Practical application of tools for self-care (mindfulness, apps, tips & tricks)


Instructors:

Jennie Sullivan Vernier: LCSW; Certified Compassion Fatigue Therapist; Clinical Supervisor

Jennie Sullivan Vernier is an LCSW and a Certified Compassion Fatigue Therapist through the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. Jennie’s work experience includes providing mental health services to populations with high levels of trauma and the SPMI population. Out of this work and due to personal experience with compassion fatigue, Jennie developed an interest in the area of building resiliency and self-care. After becoming certified in this specialty, Jennie created a program to be shared with those serving in the helping professions. Jennie delivers the message about resiliency and self-care through a variety of methods including guest lecturing in higher education settings, providing organizational in-services, conducting CEU training, and via individual therapy and clinical supervision.

Rebecca Bolante PhD., CRC, CTM


Rebecca Bolante is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Certified Threat Manager. She is on the Education Research Steering Committee for the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and serves as the secretary for ASIS International School Safety & Security Council. Bolante has been published in peer-reviewed journals of the American Psychological Association and the American Counseling Association. Bolante’s doctoral research was in threat assessment practices in institutions of higher education. Her work has included the development of standardized processes for providing support and disaster behavioral health responses following a disaster. In this regard, she brought on-site expertise and assistance after the Umpqua Community College shooting incident. Finally, she is an active PFA Trainer and serves as the convening authority and leader of Bolante.net.
