After the training participants will be able to define compassion fatigue and self-care; recognize signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue; be able to identify easy to use self-care activities for yourself and others; assess your current self-care and create a self-care plan so you can care for others in a healthy and compassionate way.

Dr. Cynthia Ruich - Director of Student Services for the Marana Unified School District

The Marana Unified School District has been part of Cynthia's life since she moved into the district in 1995. She has had three daughters graduate from MUSD, with one still in school. She started teaching in Flowing Wells Unified School District as a Junior High School Teacher in the late 90’s going on to become a Professional School Counselor in MUSD in 2003. She made the transition to administration in 2010 as an Associate Principal in MUSD. She then started in her current role in 2013. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member for Northern Arizona University in the Department of Educational Psychology, Masters in School Counseling Program. She loves education and is a lifelong learner. Cynthia has been a member of the Southern Arizona Trauma Informed Network since its inception and Southern Arizona Peer Support team since 2013. She is a trained instructor in Managing School Crisis through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and has a Certification in Critical Incident Stress Management (CCISM). She is also a trainer for the, Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) suicide intervention program.

This training will take place from 11:00AM-1:00PM - Mountain Standard Time (Phoenix)
