Event Details

Compassion is essential and necessary to social beings. We think of its use and application in so many situations each day. But here is a radical concept. What if we were to use compassion itself as medicine? How would it be delivered and how might it be useful?

Please join us with Tibetan doctor, Dr. Jampa Yonten in the preview presentation of the practices from his upcoming book, Compassion as a Remedy.

Dr. Jampa will give both theory and the practices for enhancing compassion between body and mind and in our healing interactions, both within ourselves and with others.

This teaching focuses on relationships between body and mind as well as the self and others. The purpose is to understand the effect of the mental state while interacting with a patient. The practice of the cultivation of compassion will be given, which deepens our experience of the preciousness of life and the importance of others. Finally, the experience of being present with the patient and deepening awareness skills in diagnosis and communication will be addressed. All of these practices result in benefiting patients on a deeper level, and finding better results with the treatments of the patients’ diseases. Teachings are based on Dr. Yonten’s experience in the practice of traditional Tibetan Medicine, particularly in regards to the teachings on the “Actions of a Healer,” which is from the Explanatory Tantra of the Fundamental Medical Text.
